God, I shouldn't be this upset. I shouldn't feel like I want to break something or cry. "I know. I just. God, would you stop being so reasonable? There's a future us out there and it's solid and quantifiable and it can call my mum and I can't and she can go walking in the twins' garden and have the best job and probably has children and is perfect and I'm not. He stopped short and just looked at her as his hand came up to touch the sore spot where one of his teeth had bit through his bottom lip. Years, he'd known her now, and this was the firs time Meg Murry had actually slugged him.
His mouth twisted but then he just shook his head and glared at her before turning on his heel. "Fine. Fine, h ave it your way."

Not that he really wanted to stay away from the house. Calvin liked his house, he liked everything about it. But by now taking care of her was knee-jerk even if she was being a pill.
