Apart from the mayhem itself, the most striking thing about this "measured response" in "self-defense" is that Israel first bombed all avenues for civilian Lebanese to escape. Brutality that all the leaders of Saudi Arabia, Iran, Iraq, etc. must envy.
On a positive note, this subject has been discussed heavily on the MySpace message boards, and no one has yet called me an anti-Semite for observing that Israel's brutality is entirely inappropriate. They're so far out-of-bounds that even the average person can see it.
The more the public learns about this situation, the worse it is for the US gov't and Israel because it sheds light on the unconscionable situation we have going on there.
And you heard, possibly, our eminent Prime Minister's take on Israel's killing of 8 Lebanese-Canadians? Unswerving support for Israel"s "right to defend itself" and belated and pro forma " condolences" to the families of the victims, his fellow Canadians. There are about 50,000 Canadians in Lebanon, and PM Harper plans to get around to evacuating them sometime or other...
