Not fit to wear the shirt?

I think last night's game against Wolves may well have been the worst West Ham performance (in the context) I've ever seen, in all my time supporting. Wolves are really not a very good team, but we made them look like a league above us. Which they may well be before too long -- I would have to say that we don't deserve to stay up. We were shaky and ( Read more... )

I've only read about it but it did sound pretty shocking. I doubt Tomkins has any self-confidence left now after gifting Bolton two goals and now one to Wolves. Ferdinand somehow got over this tendency and maybe Tomkins needs to go somewhere else too.

If we could get 18 million for him, I probably wouldn't complain. But alternatively, perhaps he will gain confidence and reliability from a season in the Championship, where there aren't the forwards to mercilessly take advantage of all such slips.

It's weird. I really thought Zola would be able to keep you guys up - but I guess he's had the best parts of the team sold out from under him.

I'd be very wary of your new owners. Their press statements have been rather odd since taking over. Particularly the bit between 'you'd be mad to do this' and 'The Premier League should bail out Portsmouth'

Still, the Championship isn't the end of the world, it's nice to win games and has indeed provided a chance to trim the wage bill.

It seems to me that the new owners have been systematically undermining Zola's ability to do his job, with their curious campaign of utterances. It's easy to guess that he would probably not be their sort of choice for the job.

A pity, as I think he has the makings of a good manager, but clearly only if he has the full support of his club. No doubt someone else will benefit from him in the longer run.

you can see from Newcastle's example that large attendances are possible in the Championship

I've never encountered a football fan who didn't like to see their team win, so in some ways after relegation is perfect for home-team supporters since they'll presumably be winning loads of matches!

Hopefully! Although it hasn't always worked out like that for us in the past...

It'd give it a nice Eastern European feel...
