Chelsea, wherever you may be / Don't trust your wife with John Terry

My guess is that Fabio Capello will retain Terry as captain, unless there's something more that we don't know about. He seems a pretty pragmatic sort of guy, who will not be bothered about the moral issues -- only the practical question of whether it will affect the players' desire to follow Terry's leadership. And, unless it turns out his extra- ( Read more... )

Thank you for the Rooney-related image. I must now go and find the brain bleach.

Apparently she wore a rubber catsuit at the time, if that helps...

You're just getting this information from football crowd chants, aren't you.

To be fair, where Wayne comes from, "grandmother" just means "over 30".

Ditch him and replace him with David James, who can then keep the whole team up late on Playstation before losing the second round match with Ghana. Dear God, there isn't much to choose from, is there; perhaps we should also recall Ferdinand's penchant for witless practical jokes, such as pretending to kidnap David Beckham's kids. Perhaps he could amusingly shock the referee with one of those buzzer things whilst shaking hands at the beginning of the match.

Mm, Rio's World Cup Windups would take on a whole extra dimension.

If Terry goes, I expect Ferdinand to replace him. But Ferdinand's banned domestically right now, so I wouldn't expect him to be revealed until the squad for the next match is announced.

I wonder if Ferdinand would now be considered too injury-prone?

Maybe. Did that ever stop Bryan Robson?

No, but maybe it should have. Can't have been helpful having your captain injured off in the early stages of two consecutive World Cups.

I expect Terry not to play the next match, but to retain the captaincy.

As for whether this will have a bigger impact - apparently Bridge is (understandably) refusing to join any squad that includes Terry. So our second choice left back is permanently out.

Incidentally, since we're rehashing rumours, I remember reading that the woman linked with Rooney claimed she was the just receptionist at the Brothel and that her life had been wrecked by the tabloids...

Bridge hasn't really been pulling up trees at City this season (perhaps for now-understandable reasons)... I suspect Stephen Warnock may have moved above him in the England pecking order.

As for the Rooney case woman, she did indeed claim that, and sued the Sun for libel, but it was demonstrated in court that her claim was false and she was indeed a prostitute. ("Unhappy Slapper" was the Sun headline the following day iirc.)
