I think x-posted has to do with people who read lots of blogs on readers and such. 1) It lets you skip the same headline knowing it really IS the same article or 2) It lets you go look for a different comment thread.

And the moment I saw you posted about this (I read it earlier) I was going to say that "Dammit! DANTE put a Pope in hell!" (He also took a shot at the pope having a mistress in Paradiso, IIRC.)

Wow that is intense, and horrifying (at least to American minds). If it was signed in 1929, it would have been put into law during Mussolini's reign, ne? Makes you wonder what else hasn't been purged from the books from that time. =(

I'm afraid to ask. I do know that the post-WWII government was not very enthusiastic about purging fascist officials, because the Christian Democrats in power apparently wanted at all costs to keep socialists out. Who knows what other compromises they made. Oh, and Mussolini's daughter or granddaughter was the head of a viable extreme right wing party. Scary.
