[When the screen flicks on, the face of the woman holding the device is pulled into a fierce, taut expression. Two gashes at her left temple are slowly seeping blood, and a bruise is blossoming beneath them. She seems disoriented, which isn't unusual for someone just arriving in the Underworld. Either that, or she's concussed from her head wound ( Read more... )

It is possible you are not dead.

Indeed, I had expected it would hurt quite a bit less after the fact. How might I not be dead, then? This certainly doesn't look like how I'd pictured Hel, but it clearly isn't Valhalla.

It is neither; it is the Underworld of Greek mythology.

And is there a way out?

Asgard? What sort of place is that?

The Realm Eternal. It is the home of the Æsir.

You have said quite a lot of things, none of them made any sense to me.

Asgard is an land inhabited by a race of immortals known as the Æsir. It is one of the nine realms that form the World Tree, Yggdrasil. I'm not sure how to explain it any differently. From where do you come that you have not heard of it, at least in legend?

[The Asgard bit catches his attention, along with her wounds.]

I wouldn't jump to conclusions so quickly. There are many of us here who are still quite alive, and you may be as well.

I would have your head looked at though, we have those with medical expertise here to aid with that if you need help finding them.

[She's very much hoping she's still alive because nobody writes songs or tell heroic stories about you if you get accidentally killed by a friend while sparring. Priorities: Sif has them.]

Are you alive, then? Where are these healing rooms?

I am very much alive.

As for the clinic, I was told it can be located in the market area. Let me see if I can show you ah...

[Don't mind him, he's trying to figure out how to send you the map, though technically the tablet should come with it already. BUT he figures this way should be easier for her right now.]

There. There should be something on your tablet, the thing you're holding now and talking to, that will bring you to the map if you touch it. Probably something blinking on the screen. The market place should be marked. If you cannot find it I'm sure your injury will cause someone who works there to take notice and speak with you.

[On another note.]

I also believe there is someone here you might know?

[Sif spends a second finding the map and examines it, then nods, but winces at the motion. Okay, no more nodding.]

I thank you for the information. I shall go there now.

[She visibly perks at the mention of another Æsir, even if it's only a possibility.]

Is there? Who here might be acquainted with Sif of Asgard?

Believe me when I say I've had worse. One can only hope it will leave an interesting scar.

Why would you want a scar?

A scar is a proof that you went to war and lived to tell the tale. The tales are as valued as the scars, actually.

It's possible you aren't dead at all. There are a number of us here who aren't.

So I've been told, and for that I am most grateful. I'm still not sure how I came to be here, though. I was sparring with my friend and became wounded. That is the last of my recollection.

To the best of my knowledge, no one's managed to discover the actual mechanism behind our being abducted to this place. Most of us have similar stories - we were elsewhere, and then we found ourselves on the ferry here.

For what purpose, if indeed there is one? I do not appreciate unknown forces taking such liberties with me.
