It only seems proper. The guide is quite helpful.

So I have heard you say when you hand it out. Several times. The last time we spoke I did not believe it ended on well enough terms that you would praise my work over and over again to strangers.

What would be the point of handing out a guide to a new, terrifying place to someone out of sorts if it was nothing more than a steaming POS?

Thank you, that cuts down on my work greatly.

I am not sure how I feel on the matter of promoting laziness yet you are welcome. Perhaps you can find a better way to spend that spared time and energy.

As much as I love researching, it's always welcome when the workload is cut down. Or you're actually given a starting point as opposed to the question of 'what the hell'. I never said I was going to sit back and do nothing, merely giving my thanks that I actually have more information other than 'you're awake, this isn't a dream, have fun and bugger off'.

I understand. I was not aware your welcome consisted of things such as that. That is unfortunate.

I do...kind of. It's not very strong but...I can.

What do you consider 'not very strong'?

Empathy isn't usually a Heraldic Gift--more often it shows up in conjunction with Healing. I can't do much more than sense others' emotions, kind of vaguely sometimes. Stronger Empaths could use emotions to heal mental injuries or-or kill someone if they had to.

[There is silence for a moment.]

What do you mean by healing mental injuries?

It has been a while, Carver. It is nice to hear you still have issues with family members.

[A pause.]

As well as Anders. Do you not like 'mages'?

What is it about them that you do not like?

[Yeah, he boned your roommate. Yeah, he's not gonna tell you. Yeah, he figures he should try to be less of an ass. Or something.]

The new arrival you're talkin' about wouldn't happen to be a rather skinny guy, dark hair, bright blue eyes, talked about death being gone in his absence...?

If you mean the one who seems to be aligned with Hades, no. I meant another man with green eyes, brown hair, who seems to be well muscled.

Oh, I can't help out there. Sorry, kid.

[An aggravated sigh.]

Please do not call me kid. Thank you for your attempt in any matter.
