[Mal's looking a little worse for wear, but it's (mostly) nothing a good dry cleaning can't fix: plant glop is disgusting and it's all over his coat. He has a rifle slung over one shoulder and a revolver holstered at his hip, but he's carrying a machete. Projectiles are great for normal hunting; hacking and slashing works a little better for plant

Oh... I didn't know... I've been cooped up at home.

Maybe you should take a gander at that tablet once in awhile. Hades had a few things to say not long ago.

I'm of the mind to take you up on that, Captain, seeing as I seem to have left my plant and/or zombie stomping boots at home.
[And now he's eyeing that machete you've got there.]
See, now, that might've been useful. How is it you're always the one that shows up with the cool toys, Mal?

[Yeah, he sees you rubbing at your neck. Mal's only been a little worried, Wash. He holds up the machete.]
What, this? Was just sitting around in the marketplace, waitin' to be put to use. Ain't gonna pass that up.

And I'm sure whatever merchant you relieved of it was just pleased as punch to be rid of it. Would've given you a medal had he been aware, right?
[Kicking at some more plant matter and oh that noise in the distance better not be incoming zombies because he was so not ready for that whole zombie horde thing to be happening so soon. And, ugh, that bit of wound on the back of his neck stings.]
So remind me, because it seems I'm a little out of the loop, what's the correlation between invading flora and people going bonkers? And speaking of one flew over the cuckoo's nest, do we know where little River's run off to in this mess?

Pleased as punch indeed. Certain he had a hankerin' to see it put to some good use. Too good a weapon to be just sittin' there.
[And down to business. All nonchalance is gone and Mal's gone into Captain Mode.] We kill the plants and they don't kill us is the gist, as far as I'm understanding. There's, ah, five? Five of the main pods that need taken out. Honestly, I ain't sure who's on that or what's going on there. As for River? Ain't seen her. Gettin' a mite worried; if you catch sight of her, let me know. She's hard enough to keep track of on a good day.
