It had been precisely 2 weeks, one day, and fourteen hours since Laura had returned to the Underworld. The intensity of her wounds meant that she had required almost a full day to completely heal, and after that she looked like nothing had ever happened to her at all. Most of her time had been spent out of the house, following various people around, and trying to re-familiarize herself with the Underworld.
That is, until the last event that was thrown out at them had affected Laura more than she let on. Since that event she had simply stayed in her room for the most part. That's where she was when she heard Junpei's voice. She left her room and headed down to open the door. The first thing she noticed was the bear he was holding, she looked at it with a slightly curious expression with a hint of confusion in it as well.
"Sup?" Junpei was instantly cheered when he saw her, glad to see her in one piece. To be honest the picture he had seen when she first arrived was the stuff of nightmares and freaked him out... Enough to actually create the nightmares. He was having those a lot since being told about events in his world but wouldn't both others with them. Not when it was only every other night.
He beamed as the bear was held out towards his friend and he used one hand to move an arm to wave at her.
"Surprise! I thought you could use another friend. I saw him and he reminded me of you. Awesomely badass."
Gifts were not something Laura was used to receiving; she could count the number of gifts that she had been given on one hand. She took the gift from Junpei's hands in an almost methodical way, sifting through her memories as she tried to recall the proper response to things like this. All the while she attempted to push the questions out of her mind. Why had he gotten her a gift? What had she done to deserve something such as that? Was it payment? Did he expect something in return? Why did a stuffed animal remind him of her? No, no matter how hard she could not get rid of the many questions she now had in relation to the bear. Still, she took it, and tilted her head slightly in curiosity.
"Thank you..." Her tone held the hint of a question in it, as if she was not quite positive if that was the proper response she was supposed to give. It was easier pretending to be like others when she was around the mutants back home. Although, even then, she was not good at it.
"Hey, no problem." He grinned, oblivious to the question in her voice as always. He fixed his hat, nervously, before really looking at her. When he spoke it was with his normal easy-going tone.
"So, how've you been, Laura? Sorry I haven't been around. I uh... Well. Oh, I found some movies you should watch with me some time. They're pretty awesome. You like movies, right?"
It was easy to treat her like anybody else and he had been sort of listening to make sure she was okay. Still he felt like a cruddy friend. A panda had been more helpful to her!
