Who; Annabeth Chase & Brennan Mulwray What; Research~ Where; The library When; Forward dated a little to tomorrow around noon Rating; G, I hope. Status; Ongoing
To say Brennan was late wouldn't exactly be accurate. Well, he arrived about five minutes after noon, but he'd said "ish" which should have covered the gap. He'd stopped on the way for a coffee from the lovely Miss Ellen and had taken one along for his research partner (and hoped she liked coffee) at the Roadhouse and made his way down to the library.
The person waiting outside had to be Annabeth, and he took a minute to measure her up. She was just a kid from what he could figure, and certainly not what he'd been expecting. Still, he raised the cup that would belong to her in greeting.
It was the same sort of competitive streak that provoked the need for a competition in Brennan. Unfortunately, it wasn't possible to cheat at rock paper scissors.
He flexed his fingers dramatically and rubbed his hands together. "Alright. You better make it count."
Still grinning, he nods. "Good to hear." He stretched his neck as though he were preparing to enter the ring for a prize fight. "Okay, on the count of three."

To Brennan, every competition was serious business, even if it was just deciding who would research what. He wasn't really sure what made him notice the rolls of paper in bins down a nearby aisle, but he did, and he stopped.
"Hey, those look like maps to you?" There were hundreds of thousands of rolls, and he could have sworn the aisle had been lined with books the last time he'd looked.
THAT IS ONE WAY TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM. <33yearrounderApril 13 2011, 08:07:17 UTC
They did, and Annabeth was more than certain they had been books a moment ago. And they hadn't moved anywhere. This was getting to be the most confusing library in the history of ever. "Yeah. Yeah, they do. That wasn't there before, was it?"
Confused, she moved over to one of the bins and started pulling maps out of them. "That's...new."
If it had just been him, he'd have been much more likely to just bargain it off as he hadn't been paying attention. Added Annabeth's 'mistake' into the mix, though, was a little much. He followed her over and starting pulling maps out of the bins as well.
"I guess we're both looking at maps, then." But as she started to unroll them, her heart sank. They were particularly difficult to read--even a normal person would have problems with the one she was looking at, and to her dyslexic eyes the flowing script all ran together into one river of handwritten ink. She shook her head and sighed, rolling it back up. It didn't look right anyway.
A glance at his map didn't really help much, but. "You'd be surprised what some of the fans will draw. What it's doing in here, though, I can't really answer." Annabeth grabbed another map at random and it was a little more promising--written in Greek, so at least she could read it--but it wasn't the Underworld and she muttered a curse under her breath.
"This," she gestured at the map in front of her, with all of the familiar labels. "It's a map of Camp--a camp I go to back home." All labeled perfectly in little Greek letters. "Why do they even have this?"
"Why do the have a map of Narnia?" She'd have to forgive him for being one-track minded, but the map was so detailed. It was like a map you'd actually use to navigate something, rather than just, you know, a map. He heaved a sigh. "Well, we asked for...maps..." He trailed off as the thought occurred to him. "We asked for maps!"
Annabeth was, admittedly, confused and the look she directed at her research partner made that rather obvious. "Yeah. We did. It's not like we need books on fish or something." Besides, there weren't enough of those in the Underworld to worry about it.
AFter a few moments, though, it started to dawn on her. "Don't tell me you're thinking what I think you're thinking."
He grinned as the concept developed in his mind. He paced away a few steps then turned back. "Look around. It makes perfect sense! There's no way to tell how many books and other things are here, there's no organization, no card keys, no computers..."

"Annabeth?"
