Zevran had been meaning to check on the few who were left in the mansion. This time during the day. Often he would check the traps after his patrols, peeking in to each room to make sure they were safe. Such innocence needed to be protected, especially in the Underworld, and despite whatever problems they faced in their own world he felt they were still children.

So he was leaning on the door frame and smirking at Shinjiro soon after the text had arrived.

"Did somebody mention a free feast?"

Well, that was unexpectedly fast. Shinjiro didn't turn to Zevran right at that moment. He merely winced in place. The sound of a few metal forks hitting plates made his surprise obvious.

"Breakfast." One could almost see the frown on his face just by hearing his unenthusiastic tone.

He'd be a polite host for as long as he could muster, though; he did invite just about everyone. It was too much of a hassle to filter the message.

Zevran chuckled, registering the surprise and he could already guess the tall boy was not pleased to see him. Such a shame since he had been so close to the boy's friends before their leaving.

"I see you are a man of many words as usual. Those look quite good. What are they?"

He could taste them but he wanted to see how much Shinjiro would speak.

Shinjiro maintained his scowl up until Zevran asked about the pancakes. Had he really never eaten one before?

Still facing straight ahead, he questioned it. "...You don't know what pancakes are?"

Checking the network first thing has become habitual because if there's going to be something nasty happening, it's good to know right off. Finding out that everybody's invited to breakfast at the dorm is a much more pleasant surprise. So Minako's not thrown when she patters downstairs to the kitchen and sees how busy Shinjiro's been.

"Morning~" she sing-songs instead. "Is there an occasion, or is this more of an 'I just felt like it' kind of thing?"

Minako's voice causes him to look over his shoulder and produce a small, shy smile. He turns off the heat; there are plenty of pancakes ready, and he'll make more when they disappear.

"Just my brain goin' bad."

Since it seems like he's not handling anything dangerously hot or sharp right this instant, she wanders over to hug him, because she can. "I'm sure that's not true," she says easily. "I was going to ask if there was anything I could help with, but it kind of looks like I came down a little too late for that."

Minako's embrace causes him to relax a little. He turns fully to face her.

"Y'can help by eating. I made too much." Enough to feed all of SEES, and then some.
