Castiel had heard the door open and close; someone coming in, he was fairly certain. He'd taken a few moments to duck into the back room and grab a few bottles that needed restocked. He was weary, but he'd much rather do what needed done at the Roadhouse than wander the Underworld or stay at home. He did try sleeping -- honestly, he did and he wasn't so delusional as to say he didn't need it -- but more often than not, he either lay awake, too anxious to sleep, or was jolted awake by nightmares

Her body relaxed further when Castiel came into sight and the pressure around her heart eased up. He was speaking to her and was most certainly real. She was safe. She nodded slowly in response to his question, her lips tight as she focused on flexing her muscles enough to pull herself onto one of the bar seats. The trick was not in doing it but making sure nobody else could see just how much effort she had to put forth to do something that had been so easy before. Once she had set her bag on the bar, groceries poking out of the top, she found her voice

He shrugged one shoulder. No, he hasn't been sleeping enough and it's far from the first time he's heard that. He couldn't stand some nights to close himself into a room; for all the time he stayed at the Winchester house, he did take over the attached apartment at the Roadhouse. (He'd very willingly give it back if Ellen or Jo ever came back.) More often than not, he fell asleep on the couch at the house. He had no real place of his own, but for Castiel, that wasn't a drawback. He was so used to wandering and not needing a place that to settle in that way was almost foreign to him. Even so, he set himself up to be woken easily and that was purposeful.
"I'm all right." It wasn't quite a lie. He had surrounded himself with things to do; it kept him focused and if he didn't stay focused, he slipped. He'd much rather that ache in his hands and chest when he worked too long over becoming disconnected from the world around him.
He nodded toward the bag. "What have you brought?"
She tilted the bag so he could see a small bag of rice and various vegetables at the top of the bag. As much as she wanted to inquire more on his health she knew it could wait until he was a little more relaxed. Something else was going on, something he was not speaking of, and she would have to wait to sate her curiosity. Castiel really did need to learn to share his problems with friends.
"Vegetables, chicken, and some sauces so I can show you how to make a simple curry I thought you would like. I am looking into some more American recipes before I attempt cooking something such as a hamburger for this place. How is the Roadhouse operating now?"
