“I wanna take a vacation,” she said with a sigh, sliding her arms around Sam’s shoulders.

“A vacation, huh?” he asked, glancing back at her. “Where to?”

“Well-my mom has this beach house down the coast,” she said slowly. “We could crash there for the weekend or so?”

“You think?”

“If you want to,” she said with a shrug. “I mean, you guys don’t have a case, I don’t have to head back to school-let’s just get away for a while.”

Sam was quiet for a minute, before smirking up at her. “You gonna drive?”

“Always,” she smirked back.

“What time is it?” she sighed, reaching over to grab his wrist where his watch was. Sam moved his wrist over in her direction with a heavy sigh.

“Doesn’t matter,” he said, turning his eyes back to the window. The rain came down heavily outside the beach house. Thunder rolled over the top of the house, and Sam slid an arm around her shoulders as her head flopped back down against his shoulder.

“This sucks.”

“Tell me about it.”

Jen laid there quietly for a moment, before looking back up at him again. “We should do something.”

“Like what?” he frowned. “Wanna see what’s on TV?”

“No,” she sighed. “Power’s out, remember? Besides-we could just talk?”

“Talk about what?”

“Anything?” she said with a shrug. “Anything but work.”

“Okay,” Sam said with a nod, quiet for a moment, before sighing heavily. “We really picked a bad week for the beach.”

“Don’t rub it in,” she groaned. He just smirked back at her, before leaning back against the couch and pulling her closer. “We could try to play a game?”

“Like what?”

“Got a deck of cards, or a board game or anything?”

She sighed, frowning for a minute as she though this over. “I might have a deck of cards somewhere in the house.”

“We should probably go look then.”

There was a long pause, before Jen spoke up again. “Are you feeling as lazy as I am?”

“Yeah, pretty much.”

“That’s what I thought.”

A few hours later, they still hadn’t moved, but the rain seemed to have lightened up slightly. Jen rolled over to take a glance out the window, and then sighed heavily. “Looks like it’s clearing up.”

Sam mumbled slightly before pushing up slightly. “Looks like it.”

“Maybe we could actually head down to the beach.”

“Yeah, maybe we could.”

“I’ll go get changed,” she sighed, pushing up away from him and making her way back towards the bedroom. She was just starting to get undressed when she heard a loud clap of thunder echo over the beach house, and then the rain start coming down like a flood. She sighed heavily before turning back to him, and making her way back into the living room where he was still sitting on the couch.

“You wanna just go home?”

“Yeah, might as well.”
