Merlin 5:6 In which Merlin yet again fails to do anything proactive

Yay, we actually saw Merlin do something different with his magic this week.   After prompting, and not until there were only about ten minutes of the show left but still, one should be grateful for small mercies, right?  Wrong.  It's not enough.   Not after everything that's preceded it.  Yes, it was great to see Merlin leading the Knights through ( Read more... )

Haha! Amen sister! Its depressing isn't it? I was just referring to Colin's constipated face (though I didn't call it that :P). Dull dull dull. But look at the Net reviews and its 5/5 - all except for one honourable exception. What do they SEE?? :P

Poor old Elyan - if he had to go, he could have had at least gone for a sensible plot reason. Oh and I don't think sex was remotely implied in the marital bed- they both had on more clothing than they do upright.

It seems we agree. This ep was a waste of precious time. Such a shame. My sister and I were discussing how the show isn't Merlin's story anymore, but Arthur's.

I also perused the reviews and was shocked. I mean, really shocked at the high marks. This was a crap ep and it got 4 or 5 stars. First time ever I couldn't finish reading them. I will go back and comment, but I almost feel it's a waste of time. Nothing can change. I'm certain the TPTB are very pleased with themselves, while those of us who pay attention are shaking our heads. I was reviewing something tanous had attached to a comment. One of the "J's" said that while writing and filming s5, they were "very distracted". Well, that says it all, doesn't it? They can't even be bothered to focus on their own creation.

Your first two paragraphs had me cheering. I couldn't agree more about the treatment of Merlin as a character. He's barely recognizable anymore, much less the hero of his own story. I don't know who is anymore, tbh. Since there is no forward movement, maybe TPTB decided to do away with heroes altogether as they advance the plot too much.

I never thought this season of Merlin would actually be a drag to watch, but at the moment, it is. :(
