Dickon is hard at work in the garden, Soot perched on his shoulder and Captain nosing about a few feet away.

'Hard at work in the garden' has been more or less his default state for several days now.

He's beginning to worry about what he's going to do when the garden runs out of work that needs doing.

There's the sound of leather boots on dirt coming from the ground behind him.

The sound stops, as Mary catches sight of Dickon.

There's a pause; then she asks, "How are my flowers doing?"

Dickon never pauses in his work. He heard her coming.

"Well enow'."

He half-turns, and offers a slightly hesitant smile.

"Come see for thysel'?"

Mary gets seriously on her knees next to him.

Directed at the flowers:

"I am sorry I left you for so long - but I knew Dickon and Colin would take care of you."

The flowers don't seem to mind.

Neither does Dickon.

"Master Colin's been graidely 'elpful the past few days." A brief pause. "'E weren't pleased t' 'ere tha weren't feelin' well."
