To assist in celebrating the holidays, Don Cherry's presence has been inflicted upon Canadian troops in Afghanistan.

Now, I'm not what you'd call a fan of the military, but this seems excessively harsh.

I know it isn't nice to wish ill of people, but I would have no sympathy if that man developed cancer of the voice box.

Alternately, I wish upon him a truly humbling experience. He would apologize for all the stupid arrogant things he's said then never speak to a microphone again.

Upon consideration, I think the second option has the best chance of triggering widespread self-examination among his fans. In a way, I suppose he'd be undermining the mentality from within.

It's certainly made me add Don Cherry-free Christmases to my list of reasons I'm glad I'm not in the military.
