May I present to you a possible 'Sue with a most...lovely...name? Meet Melora Turner.

While I didn't hate Melora Pazlar from DS9 (the chick in the wheelchair who could fly; snogged Julian), many people consider her a "canon Mary Sue". So is calling your character that advertising a Suvian nature, or is the name Melora common elsewhere?
The story's not horrific, though it seems fixated on the birthday party of Melora Turner (Will & Elizabeth's daughter), and what people are bringing to said party. And it mentions casually such things as extramarital sexual relations (and a lesbian one) that are apparently known to and utterly fine with society at large.
And the prequel (22 chapters, but says it's NOT a romance): Tale of a Sparrow(Summary: A young Irish woman finds a man washed up on the beach near her home. What is he doing on this beach, all burnt and scratched
