I read something very disturbing in "Smithsonian" today. In Germany, the corner butcher shop, complete with artisanal sausages, is being decimated by supermarkets, mass-produced hi-tech sausage, and changes in lifestyle. Things change, no surprise

They've been selling a similar thing with cookie dough for years -- seasonal designs when you cut into 'em. I don't think the meat version surprises me that much. OTOH, maybe seeing it in person would be more horrific.

Oh, yeah, I have seen that. But I am a cookie snob and since cookies in a plastic tube are already fake by virtue of being sold that way, the extra little pic inside doesn't horrify me in the same way.

The wieners-with-pictures inside them sound quite awful.

But the article itself was absolutely fascinating. And I am the kind of crazy girl who would probably like mett an awful lot.

I tell myself I would never eat mett, but that's waht I said about carpaccio until I smelled it. But I don't think onions would attract me as much as garlic does.
