My entire life i have had the privilege of having Ted Kennedy as my Senator. As a Massachusetts liberal its hard to think of anyone else as our senator. I had never gotten a chance to see the man in person. But i always swelled with pride when i saw him on TV. I feel the same way with Russ Fiengold. has to be good when he has the same first name as me

You put it better than I could have.

They kept referring to him with past tense verbs on my commute NPR and it was very hard to hear.

Ethan, I thought you said that beautifully. As I've been watching all of the retrospectives and memorials over the last few days I have realized that I didn't not adequately appreciate the impact that Ted Kennedy had on the entire nation. He was, possibly, the last of a true breed of American heroes . . . overcoming devastating personal difficulties, but never losing site of the bigger picture and the true responsibilities of his office.
