I'm sorry about your friend, but if you're going to dedicate a show to her, this is a GOOD one! The play rocked!!!! I'm really glad we went to the one where you were filling in. It was great fun to watch you and Sean go. I honestly can't pick out where you messed up. Whatever the flub was, it was perfectly blended with the character's speech patterns.
I'm so glad you guys came and just as glad that you enjoyed it. We worked very hard on this show and I'm quite proud of it.
Debbie died almost four years ago. She was something of a mentor as far as the community theatre is concerned -- most of the shows I performed in she directed. She loved silly comedy and especially little comedy bits. Every little bit that I threw into Inspector Hound -- the melodramatic tennis game-inspired "I didn't want to hurt you!"/"I see!" bit between Simon and Felicity, for instance, or the fact that Hound comes in with that rubber inflatable pool toy around his waist -- was done with a bittersweet thought that Debbie would have loved it.
I agree with Nykki... I do remember one point where you started stumbling over words, but I'm not even sure if it was you or the character. You played it off very well if it was a mistake, and Stoppard's done that before if it wasn't.
Speaking of Stoppard... I had no idea he had co-written "Shakespeare in Love." But it does explain a lot of the cleverness in the screenplay.
Stumbling over the character's words was intentional. I was acting.
ACTING!
Nope, the flubs were a couple of dropped lines from me in the whole "Sometimes I dream of revolution" speech at the beginning, and later a dropped line of Sean's that delayed the actress playing Mrs. Drudge's initial entrance.
