Hikaru hold Kaoru's hand tightly as they walked up to the D floor. He quickened his steps when they had to pass the puddle of blood on the floor below. Maybe leaving the room at this time hadn't been such a good idea after all.

When they finally reached the D floor, Hikaru spotted Rukia immediately. Turning to his brother he whispered "I thought she was older. She looks like she's ten."

He stopped right in front of her, smiling. "I assume you're Rukia? I'm Hikaru and this is my brother Kaoru."

Kaoru had kept a hold of Hikaru's hand the entire way upstairs, drawing a little closer to his brother when he seemed to speed up a little.

It was a nice prospect to have something to do, for a change. He knew the possibility of violence in the halls was of considerable concern to Hikaru, and although Kaoru understood the danger it was much less of a worry for him. He wasn't really sure why; maybe he'd just accepted it as a matter of course.

At Hikaru's comment, he chuckled softly, squeezing his brother's hand and whispered back,

"No, believe me. She's way older than she looks." He bit his lip, remembering the speed-dating evening from many months ago. He had first met Rukia then and found out a little about her in their conversation, but he knew she wasn't likely to remember anything about it. Bringing up the idea of dating in Hikaru's presence was hardly a good idea either so it was probably a good idea just to keep quite for the time being.

He settled on a smile instead.

"Hi!"

Upon seeing the two moving forward, joined hand in hand, Rukia suddenly wondered why she hadn't offered to escort them instead. They weren't the only ones anxious about the recent wave of murders and violence judging by the comments over the network. Rukia wasn't afraid, but maybe that's because she'd long since grown accustomed to humans being significantly less powerful than the shinigami who moved through their world. But just as the Espada were brought to an equal level with the shinigami in this place, she had to keep in mind that the same applied in regards to herself and humans ( ... )

Hikaru didn't let go of Kaoru's hand as they entered the room. "That's what I thought." He stepped inside, not surprised that it looked just like Kaoru's and his own room. He sighed "Pretty dull."

He wondered why Kaoru and he hadn't botherd to decorate their room yet. Hikaru made a mental note to bring that up later.

"I assume that you don't have any fabric to make curtains?" He tilted his head, thinking about what colours would look good.
