It was dangerous, I'd been told, but if we stayed in the clinic and they monitored him closely, William should be fine. It seemed that this chicken pox was making its way around the island, and I understood infants were particularly succeptible. It wasn't where Spike had originally set out to find them, but once he'd reached the compound it hadn't taken him long to find out where Vala and William were. When he did, it was hard not to run, to keep himself to a fast walk as he made his way to the clinic and located the two of them. "Is he awright?" were the first words out of his mouth, though he kept his voice to a low murmur so as not to wake the baby.

"He has a disease called chicken pox," I replied softly. I'm sure I looked awful, my eyes rimmed red and dark circles beneath them from lack of rest.

"I understand he'll be fine...but he's very ill right now," I added. "He's only just now getting the rash."

Spike relaxed just a little. Chicken pox wasn't bad unless you were an adult, right? Something like that, it wasn't as if he'd had to worry about catching things like that for most of his unlife. "Poor bloke's going to be itchy as hell," he observed, taking a few steps closer as he looked at her. "To be honest, you look worse'n he does, luv. How long since you slept?"

"I slept a bit. It was before I came here," I said, dodging the fact that it had been all day and the night before...and tonight as well.

"Do you want to sit down for a while? I'm going wonko just sitting here watching him."
