[i] like a lamb to the slaughter

I only know I am not dead because Murder cannot be killed. I was told that I am now a resident of this "New York;" I was unaware there was an old York. What can you tell me of this city aside from its lust for blood? I can feel their hunger and I want only to feed them. Tell me why I should not be allowed to continue my life's purpose ( Read more... )

The old York is in England.

Eboracum to Eoforwic to Jórvík to Yerke, Yourke, Yarke and finally York. Interesting, no?

I do believe there are a great number of things you will find you are unaware of.

Someone grows tired of a name or someone that speaks a different language gets tired of peace and changes everything.

Mortals are fickle. History is is built on murder, you should know.

History is built of murder. Slaughter is the fabric on which history's tales are written. It is not a cause.

There is no reason for you to discontinue your purpose.

Sir.

I was discouraged from such an act; I was told it may result in my own imprisonment or demise. I know not enough of this mortal form to reject valid reasoning.

Societal constraints should be of no concern beyond an adjustment of methods.

Considering the current way of things, it would be most effective to adopt a manner which is discreet.

My dears, another point of advice is that one should not speak too openly about such delightful things. There are those who might not understand or who might seek to punish. Alas, my judgment and my law are inconsequential in this place.

For all that it means from a dispossessed queen, Phonos, you are welcome here.

Ah.

So you, too, have been cast away. How does a dog survive among mortal men?

This place considers it illegal. Should you wish to continue your purpose, you must do so carefully.

And Benjamin Roth is your mortal name. It's what the mortals you interact with will call you.

Why would they call me Benjamin Roth instead of Phonos or Murder?

Carefully. How?

Because these mortals consider us to be elements of stories, not actual beings. And if you told them otherwise, they would consider you crazy.

Away from witnesses, of course. And leave no traces.

Then they declare anything they do not understand insane.

No.

Methods change. Motives change. Results change. Purpose remains the same.
