For a moment, Jack was weightless in the seat, held there by the belt and nothing else. Then there was a sickening crunch and screech of metal as the vehicle landed with bone-shaking force. His forehead pounded into the dashboard and Jack was blinded by a pulsing flash of red and white pain behind his eyes. He clutched his head and for a moment, he just sat there.]

Which wasn't to say he wasn't shocked. for a moment he simply sat, sprawled back in his seat all of the air knocked out of him. It was dark outside the car window, but even from there, Prefect could make out the flickering orange glow of torchlight. He tried to voice an objection to Jack, to let the man know that this kind of nonsense never used to happen to him before they started traveling together, but for that moment, he just couldn't find the air. So instead, he reached out to very, very lightly brush his fingers over Jacks hand. Just to let him know he objected to this. Not to check if he was all right.

Oh, his car... He winced and closed his eyes tight again, not wanting to see any more of the damage, though, if Prefect had asked? He would have said it was because his head hurt. After another pain-filled pause, Jack finally managed to whisper raspily:]
What happened?
[His voice is... pretty menacing, considering the state he's in.]
