there was an ad in the paper at where i work from a couple saying that they're willing to pay $100,000 for a chinese woman's egg. i'm seriously considering this.

Be sure to do a lot of research into how eggs are harvested for donation. I think that usually they put you on rather high doses of hormones, and there are a lot of risks and potential lifestyle changes that you'll have to make.

Not saying that you *shouldn't* do it--but be informed ahead of time. There's a reason that couples seeking eggs pay so much money. (As opposed to sperm donations which get relatively little money).

yeah, i'm definitely going to have to look more into this and research the potential risks. apparently there are more of them than i had thought. thanks so much for your advice :)

I've considered egg donation a few times myself. Didn't end up doing it because it ultimately seemed so invasive as to not be worth the money. But then again, I wasn't looking at $100K. Also, the only person I know who has done it ended up seriously depressed for several years.

So yeah, weigh the options.

thank you so much for commenting :) i've seen a lot of ads for egg donors but never with this much money involved. i'm sorry to hear about that person you know and unfortunately, one of my parents' friends also went through a similar experience. i do need to spend more time thinking about this; it's sad how the first thought on my money-grubbing mind was how much of the 100 grand was gonna be taxed...

Will they take the money back if the baby doesn't look Chinese enough? Gee.

Agreeing with the two lovely ladies above... be careful when making the decision. :)

thank you for the well wishes, i will be careful, for sure. i'm just glad that this couple didn't specify a height requirement, unlike so many of the other ads i've seen ;P
