Bored today I rewatched the first episode of season gr8 and I noticed few interesting things. I didn’t pay them any attention previously, but now after watching episode 8 something clicked.
Yeah, that's very interesting how creators play with visual aspect of these scenes. In Sam's flashbacks as well but in a different way - highlighting Sam's delusion and severance from the real world.
I've been thinking about the watcher *so much*. And how Sam's memory of the night he left *changed* from episode one to episode nine.
And it's all still so *off* and weird...i just don't know.
Dean loved purgatory's 'purity', but that kind of black and white just doesn't work in the real world, and i think Dean really hates having to deal with all the grey again. *pets him*
The memory of his leaving changed or maybe it was not the same day at all. Maybe Sam firstly left to give her space & time and later he left second time to go find Dean. What bugs me also in 8.01 are some words about Amelia - There was a girl and there wasn't. So at the same time she was with him and not. She was torn apart.
Dean at the begining (s1&2) saw everything in black and white, his understanding changed gradually over time (see his history with vampires). Purgatory gave him once again the solace of the simple choice and a clear reminder - that the real world is so much more complex.
I do, too! And these boys *have* evolved, and yet - they're still Sam and Dean. :)
According to LJ reports from the writers/Carver (? can't remember), Sam didn't get any messages or anything, he just showed up at the cabin, and Dean was there. Which makes things *so much more* odd.
