I see a disaster in the making. If...If...IF...they use Asian actors it might not be too bad but if the epic fail that Akira is going to be is any indication, there probably won't be any Asians anywhere near this thing unless they are sitting in a theater watching it.

Yep I agree. When I saw this I said to myself "The hell they thinkin'?" First, they gonna line up bunch of actors according to their hair color and give them instructions how to say things in Japanese. Nice X(

IT's not really a newsflash, but I really, really, REALLY hope that if WB will make a film adaptation of Bleach, it will be a GOOD one, not something like what happened to Dragon Ball 'coz that fucking movie is one major disaster.

I AM FUCKING WORRIED. I don't want Bleach to be ruined and destroyed and I hope to frigging god, they will get Asian actors for the movie. I hope it's going to be as good as the live adaptation for Rurouni Kenshin. *crosses fingers*

Oh and speaking of DragonBall Fucked-UP-LiveActionMovie, they are much cooler than Street Fighter back in 1994. And that is the most fucked-up movie remake I ever saw.

I don't have it in me to share your pessimism - I find this news rather exciting, actually. Now if Peter Jackson only took interest...he did an awesome job in redacting the convoluted, complex Lord of the Rings trilogy into three long, comprehensible movies which were pretty true to canon. I can see him, or someone like him, do that with Bleach. As to your "Asian actors" concern, it's crossed my mind more than once that a lot of the Bleach characters do not look very Asian at all. Ichigo, Orihime, Aizen, Yuzu, Rangiku, even Renji. Many have very sharp, unrealistically angular faces - you won't find an actor like that anywhere. They don't exist. CGI may be the way to go.

There are things are made to be left alone... well, to me, that is. Perhaps some of us will agree if they tagged it as "Based on the Anime Blah-blah" and then create another story resembled to the said Anime (okay so I'm lost there... the hell am I saying LOL).

It's not about Asian actors or Caucasians, it's about how to execute a story without worrying the "WTF?" from the audience. They ruined DragonBall and I don't want that to happen to Bleach :(

Sorry about my obvious pessimism... I just can't help it.

Then again, we don't have to go see it, right? I know LOTR fans that hated it. I loved it, despite the necessary removal of certain plot elements. But, just because it exists doesn't ruin the original manga or anime. Try thinking of it as animated fanfiction :-)

HAHAHA yeah why worry, FF.net have done that already (those guilty, please raise your hand) lol XD

About LOTR, yep they removed certain plots. I've read the three volumes and I thought my eyes popped out. Damn, there long.

It will be interesting to see just how much they will try to get in the movie. The Soul Society arc was quite long. If they introduce the captains into the movie then they better damn well get someone epic to play Byakuya and Renji! No one comes to mind who could do them justice at the moment. I could maybe see Byakuya but Renji? Yes I'm biased.
