If there are two cars, and they go the exact same speed, with one car following just behind the other, does the car behind get better mileage because of the drag created by the car in front of it?

Just curious.

Yes. Even in track we do that...you try to stay off center behind them and then in the last ~200m pass them. Its easier that way. You'd be surprised how slow some races are because no one wants to take the lead.
