meh. I deny the shoujo guilt. I defy the shoujo guilt! Yes, they're pretty excessive. But they're a lot of fun and they're well done. For me, the end of ParaKiss redeemed the series. And Hot Gimmick is done well, because if it weren't, I would've closed the book & not cared...
One more vol. of ParaKiss! I'm really looking forward to it (even if it is mismatched. *pouts*).
I have a complex about being girly, I admit. Even with my bounciness and love of sparkles and all that. :/ I think it's my mental association with girly-girls from when I was a kid . . . never wanted to be remotely like them (still don't. Ugh).
Furuba doesn't seem at all the same as the others to me. I think it's because (well, I can't compare it to ParaKiss or HG yet, not having finished them) Furuba's *structure* is so amazing. I really enjoy the other shoujo series, but they're not built so intelligently (and I don't fall for the characters in anything like the same way). I found with MARS that things just happened, and pieces of backstory didn't really have any foreshadowing or sense of inevitability. I still enjoyed it immensely, but it didn't give me the same satisfaction of pieces falling perfectly into places you somehow always knew were waiting for them.
