Great list! Very close to mine -- Fruits Basket, of course. That title is always number one with a bullet. Skip Beat! would probably be in my top five and if I was being strict about definitions I guess I would swap out NANA for Paradise Kiss (but if I wasn't NANA would certainly be on there).
I don't think I have any out there or unusual choices for favorite shojo...and Ouran would probably get an "honorable mention" but I couldn't place it in the top five.
Whoops! Spoke too soon...just remembered After School Nightmare. That would be an unusual choice in the top five. (although depending on my mood...yeah. This is very hard.)
I've read a fair amount of Skip Beat!, but IIRC with long gaps between reading volumes (and I may have missed a few, back when I was getting review copies from Shojo Beat), and I didn't fall for it that time around, but I'm starting to get the omnibus editions so I can give it another shot. I certainly liked it fine, and I know so many people who love it...!
I love ParaKiss too, but my love for NANA is enough stronger that I opted to cheat a little anyway. ^^;
Somehow I usually forget that After School Nightmare is shoujo. I quite like that one too!
Other things I considered strongly were Aishiteruze Baby and Sand Chronicles. Oh, and Mars, even though I haven't read that in almost a decade... (!!!)
Probably 'cause I so rarely get around to writing about anything unless I'm actively fannish about it or feeling particularly inspired. ^^; (I always mean to do better! I really do!)
I have you to thank for introducing me to High School Debut! I have it sitting on my bookshelf in my room, ready to be reread for the umpteenth time. It's so adorable...
And I second the love for Princess Tutu. I need to rewatch it sometime.
It truly is! Yoh and Haruna are utterly adorable! I've wanted to read the extra chapter after the finale, but I've never been able to find it anywhere...

Unsurprisingly, we have a lot of overlap.
