A fic snippet that isn't technically from a WIP.

Writer-types, do you ever get those moments when your brain hands you a piece of headcanon that you immediately love but know you'll probably never be able to use effectively?

I've got a bunch. My current favorite popped into my head back in January, and I wrote the gist of it down, but there's not enough there to make a story and I feel like it's ( Read more... )

I love the idea of Shaun knitting.

I, er, recently may have written about an approximately 90,000-word fic to justify a piece of headcanon. Said headcanon took up maybe three paragraphs out of the whole thing.

I'm clinging to this notion for all I'm worth because I love it so much. *^^*

dropped stitches and all

*busily drawing little hearts around this*

Thank you so much for the link, this was definitely worth not just giving up mid-day and falling over! Mental image of Shaun enthusing about sock yarn now accepted as headcanon, btw.

When we got our kittens a few months ago I was briefly tempted to name them for Georgia and Shaun, but decided not to--despite all my love for Georgia, I didn't want a kitten with her personality, so the name would either be sadly apt or wildly incongruous*, and it occurred to me that naming my pets for characters I write smut for could wind up feeling awkward.

But! I basically decided that I'd still give them the names if, and only if, we wound up with a long-suffering girl kitten and a boy kitten who constantly pounced her and licked her ears and then purred ferociously when she swatted him. *g*

*Or so I thought. Our Claudia!kitten turns out to be affectionate and sweet and lovely in all ways, and yet does have traits that would've worked if we'd made her a George.

Shaun got to be "Puppy" for me in part because my mental image of him is so unshakably of Jason Dohring at the age he was when he did Veronica Mars. His character is also "Puppy", just to be confusing, and a large part of why I desperately wish he could play Shaun is ( ... )
