I had actually heard that a lot of Comic Con geeks have been increasingly unhappy with the sinking levels of geekiness of the convention as the years go on. I do feel like it's more of a pop culture thing than a geek thing these days, especially judging by the enormous Twilight line when we went in 2009. Plus we know plenty of people who seem to consider themselves mildly geeky at best who have expressed a desire to attend Comic Con.

Regardless, it's always important to question your assumptions, because, well, you know what they say about assuming.

I've heard that too, yeah. OTOH, my editor went for the comic book aspect (which I realize I didn't specify), and it's kind of a major trip undertaking from here, since we're probably about as far away from California as you can get on the continent.
