A schedule begins to take shape, & apparently my manga-buying habits aren't as steady as I thought

Today brought my thirty days' notice about Casual Job getting back underway. Good to know! As always, there's a bit of dread because there's no knowing how long it'll last or what the days will be like, but traditionally the spring work is easier (in terms of hours per day) than the autumn work and lasts longer. *knocks wood ( Read more... )

materialism, making manga sound good since 2006, not your typical desk job, adaptation

You know that "one-woman economic stimulus package" line is just a joke, right? Even at half the 2010 numbers, you're definitely supporting your industry.

EEEEEE!!! If only I weren't broke right now! I'd be all over Princess Jellyfish!!!

I'm kinda wondering that with the closing of TokyoPop, what's gonna happen to their abandoned series? There were a few I was fond of and in the middle of reading, and now they're not gonna be finished. One was only a few books away from being completely finished.

Edited for spelling fail. *facepalm*

Basically the entire Tokyopop catalogue is now out of print, and that's it for those series in English unless another publisher acquires the license.

A few things have been license-rescued. Off the top of my head, VIZ has acquired Loveless (and will be starting with vol. 9, immediately after Tokyopop left off), SuBLime has picked up Love Pistols (digital only, AFAIK), and Yen picked up Alice in the Country of Hearts (as well as its sequel) and will be releasing it from vol. 1.

Elemental Gelade recently got picked up for digital-only release. I don't remember the company.

Still have my fingers crossed for a few others, Gakuen Alice most of all.

Oh, right! I don't know why I blanked on that one--Alethea and Athena were mentioning it.
