An addition to our little network!

Dear Internet: I have things I've been meaning to blog about, like the closure of one of our most-beloved-ever restaurants last weekend (there was almost literally weeping), but Casual Job is eating me alive. Also, I hope to basically do an entire adaptation over the weekend (!), for values of "weekend" that hopefully include at least a few hours ( Read more... )

Oooh, congrats on your new netbook :D And what a cute name for her!! Good luck with your work (of various sorts).

I thought House of Five Leaves was interesting from the... uh, one chapter I read on Viz's website. But it's getting ever harder to pick up a new series with all the others I'm already following. And I'm really bad at finding time to watch anime (even if it's free). But let us know how you like it if you watch/read!

Also, happy birthday to you!! Oh, but it's late by your timezone! Sorry!! Hope you had a lovely day of it, though :D

I have to say I'm looking forward to (probably) being able to catch my breath next month, but having work is good! ^_^

Thanks! I had a pretty good day, all told. We're actually doing something about the birthday tonight, since I was working a lot yesterday, and that should be fun.

They are counting kernel versions, and yes it is way better than XP for a variety of reasons. Windows 7 is actually a good OS. That said, for your netbook, a Linux derivative would be good since netbooks don't have much comparative power, and Jolicloud looks like it would be very efficient.

As I was saying to Oyce over on Dreamwidth, I actually am glad to hear that 7 is a decent OS, given how many people use it (and I'm probably going to have to put a dual boot on Garcia for Starcraft II, unless we start mucking about with emulators). Yotsuba only has 1G of RAM, and I've heard conflicting stories about whether the Samsungs can get RAM upgrades or not, so I definitely wouldn't use Windows on her even if I were more Microsoft friendly.

I still dislike Microsoft itself enough that it spills over into my feelings on Windows, though, so I don't really have much interest in playing around with 7 more than strictly necessary.

Yeah, I don't like Microsoft or Apple, though I do like *some* of their respective products. They both suffer the trope of corruption by power with former becoming stagnant and the latter becoming more arrogant by the day.

I'm not really fond of Apple as a company either, for the same reasons, but as least I don't automatically assume their products suck. I do like my iPod Nano.

I'm curious about the name Jiip? Where is that from?

Yay for a new netbook whose name is Yotsuba - very cute. Good luck with your casual job.

"... adapting the Fruits Basket Banquet fanbook struck me as poetic."
It's all planned :) or as Yuuko san would say: "The only thing is hitsuzen." Yes, I just finished xxxholic 15! I'm a geek.

Jiip is named for the little dragon in Saiyuki. ^^ When I bought him, I had a poll for what to name him (I had several ideas), and I was convinced to go with "Jiip" when someone explained "because he's little and cute and takes you everywhere you want to go!"

*g* That seems like a good thing to be a geek about!

Congratulations on getting a netbook! I think Wes would like one of those for when he goes camping and such. (A lot of campgrounds have free wi-fi, surprisingly enough).

House of Five Leaves looks interesting. Let us know what you think.

Congrats on the netbook! I got one for my birthday and I LOVE it!

I'm watching House of Five Leaves on Hulu right now :) Still not over how easy it is to get legit subbed streams these days....boy do I feel old!

I adore mine so far, although I haven't actually used her much (still getting things set up in between bouts of working). *^^*

Yeah, all the easy legit access makes me feel old too, but it's pretty awesome.
