Via cofax7: Apparently girls in Star Trek fandom are a new and poisonous development. Who knew? (The post is annoying, but the comments are something else.)

These attitudes remind me so much of what comic book conventions were like when I first seriously got into them in the 90's. May I be forever grateful for anime and manga, and how they completely changed the environment (and gender mix) at comic book conventions.

Amen. I never had really bad gender-line experiences at my early cons, and I don't know if that was pure luck, but some of the stories people tell are just...wow.
