umadoshiNot at all coincidentally, today is the beginning of the lunar New Year. (I'd hoped to have this finished for the western New Year, since that's when the holiday is celebrated in Japan, but it didn't work out that way

In my head it's always Momiji's idea, no matter what "it" is. *laughs* I love Momiji, and I do really believe that he would try harder than anyone else to maintain some sense of family among the lot of them. Tohru can be a bit of a center for the younger 12shi just by virtue of being important to them, but it's not quite the same thing.
I like very much the fact that Haru spoke to Akito, even if it was not the most comfortable of conversations. I'd be interested in hearing your motivation for having him do so. Just propriety, or something else?Hmm...I've been thinking about this since I first read your comment, and I'm finding it hard to put into words. It's something like...speaking to her is about acknowledgement, not forgiveness. I think he feels--and Akito herself feels--that there's absolutely nothing she can do that will actually make up for what she did. So I don't think she's trying to atone, but she's trying to do good, and even if ( ... )

That makes perfect sense.
I do also think that Rin and Shigure would probably get easier with each other if/when Rin adjusts to the notion that he's in love with Akito. I don't know how much I might ever write about it--I have a piece of a scene that probably can't stay in the story it's in, just because the story will never, never get written at this rate and it's a very extraneous bit of subplot, and that might be all I have to say about it. It may turn into something at some point, though.
I think it goes without saying that I would be interested in reading it if it ever comes to pass. :)

I'm overly attached to associating songs and bits of lyrics with people and characters, but in this case it really is one of the most perfect lyric matches ever. It captures so much of the hopefulness at the end of the series. (Two friends of mine play their own version of the song, which is how I found it, and there's nothing quite like heartfelt live music. ^^)
