I wonder if the similarity between the sound of Rin and Ren's names is as deliberate as the similarity between their hair?
I was thinking that EXACT same thing! I was like, "Maybe there's more to Akito's dislike of Rin other than the fact she "took" Haru away?" Hmmm...
I also liked that little scene with Akito and Hatori. I thought it was kind of sweet... even though I'm still no big fan of hers.
Samurai Deeper Kyo (vol. 1-2) didn't grab me.
I assume you speak of the manga? It gets better. I have up to volume 7 and am anxiously awaiting a way for me to get my hands on vol. 8 without having to order it online.
We're almost finished the Trigun rewatch with some people here--just finished episode 21, so we're really in the final stretch. I love this series, although I don't find the ending very satisfactory (yet another set of hopes pinned to an as-yet-unread manga ending).
Ah yes, Trigun is a favorite of mine as well. My fave episode is 25 "Live Through" mostly for the many Vash/Meryl moments. I am a huge fan of them. Actually

I've requested the next couple books of Kyo from the library. ^^ (I think they only have the first four volumes. :/) How many books are in the series?
I think Rin really managed to push all of Akito's buttons the wrong way--similarity of hair/name, being the only one who we know for sure has actually had sex with one of Akito's precious male 12shi . . . even if Hatori and Kana did as well, of course Kana's not Akito's property in the same way, *and* Akito likes Hatori. Poor Rin. *cuddles*
I'll have to check with the Tokyopop website to see how many have been translated so far and the release dates.
I wonder if it's both good and bad to be one of Akito's favorites? Maybe she doesn't want any one other than her to be that close to any of the male jyuunishi (except for maybe Hiro. That'd be a bit... wrong). I mean, we know she has a physical relationship with Kureno, it's still speculation at to what others she may have had. Ahh, the wild theories flying around!
I just realized something. Your screen name means Year of the Horse, right (I assume in refrence to Rin)? I was born in '76 so I wonder if that makes me ryudoshi? Hmmm... *ponders* Maybe that's why I like Hatori so much. Also, I wonder if Uma Thurman knows her name also means 'horse?' *ponders again* For some reason, these questions popped into my head...
I think it's not so bad for Shigure and Hatori to be on her favorites list, although it does seem to make Hatori a bit uncomfortable sometimes. For Yuki and Haru, though, it does seem to be more trouble than it's worth (and it doesn't even make them immune to physical attack, as evidenced in the recent New Year's chapter).
IIRC the summary for the new chapter said that only the Trio and Kureno knew about her gender, so at least we can be sure (as sure as we can be of anything in this series) that she hasn't been *that* physically intimate with the younger males.
If "ryu" is the word used for Dragon in relation to the zodiac, then that's probably the word for your year. ^^ I chose 'umadoshi' because of the combination of meanings--adoration of Rin, of course, but it's also my actual zodiac year. ^_^
