Fruits Basket 134 scans-only reaction

Not too much to say yet (and it may be a while, depending on whether anyone does a translation), but here're my first thoughts on the chapter:

Tohru's shelf of beloved possessions is lovely: Kyoko's photo, the set of 12shi figurines, the remains of Kyo's bracelet . . . (and is that the paper flower Kyo gave her way back when?).

I don't have too much to say about the trip to the zoo--it's adorable, and it looks like some of the conversation'll be very interesting. Meanwhile, Tohru loving the . . . pony? Horse? (Takaya drew Rin as an awfully small horse, so maybe her sense of equine scale is off? ^^) is cute, and I see "Isuzu-san desu" in one of her dialogue bubbles. *dies*

On page five, what's that piece of swag? "Clear file"? I've heard of those, but I don't think I actually know what they are.

Without dialogue, I think Kyo's non-interaction with the cat is my favorite part. Unlike the birds scattering at Kureno's approach, the cat's shunning of Kyo is very obviously deliberate--and there's a tiny dialogue bubble on page eight that reminds me of the time we were actually shown what a cat was saying to him (vol. 13?). I wonder if he can still hear them, if the 12shi simply know the languages of their animals in a way that's not necessarily lost to them (although it's not much use if the animals respond this way). The cat's attitude toward him kind of reminds me of the zodiac animals turning from the cat when it protested the bond, interestingly; there's that vibe of betrayal. Or maybe it's just being a cat. ^_^

I love that Tohru saved the beads--it's right that they should be kept and remembered, but also understandable that Kyo isn't the one with the heart to do it. For him it's a symbol of a history that's only pain, but for Tohru it's a part of him, of the boy she fell in love with.

It surprises me how much I like Komaki, given her incredibly small role. ^^ No real thoughts on the scene with her and the boys, other than to note that they definitely don't seem dejected by whatever happened with the entrance exams.

Whatever Saki says to Kyo is making me very curious.

And again, without the dialogue, I'm not going to offer any thoughts on the "Kyo tells Tohru he wants to leave and wants her to come with him" thing. There're too many things that could mean, and since it's probably the very last thing in the chapter, it's obviously significant. So that's it for me, for now.

[EDIT: next chapter is due on November 4, BTW.]
