Furuba 129 almost-full-translation reaction

(This is turning out to be a pretty posty evening, between journals). I don't know if I'll have more of a reaction later--right now, some of the most interesting-sounding dialogue is partly lost on the scans we have and the translation is missing fragments of that conversation. But a few thoughts: I did notice in the raw scans that she was slapping herself in the scene with Yuki, but without the dialogue I thought it was something light, to shake herself out of it. With her internal monologue, and the recurrence before her actual conversation with Kyo, it's really pretty disturbing. We did already have some idea of how repressed she is, and terrified of abandonment, but the extent to which she's trying to shove her emotions away is scary. That, and "understanding that her role was finished"--I can think of a couple of ways to take that, and they're both depressing. :/

Kyo's actual confession broke my heart, and the way he asked her permission to hug her--the inversion of the 'usual' progression of physical intimacy, from hugging to kissing. *_* And the fact that what he said to her was largely what she said to him, long ago.

But I think my favorite part was Tohru's hesitant " . . . so it's ok to be together, and hold hands?" and Kyo's "We're already holding hands".

The missing fragments have to do with Kyo's reference to 'not being human', which interests me a lot.

And Shadow's translation of the last banner definitely makes me wonder if Kyo's liberation has struck at the root of the curse . . .
