Oh, that was lovely. My favorite part has to be (of course) the very last line. But I also loved the fact that Castiel does understand John, the reason he did what he did. Really beautiful piece here. :)

So many lovely things about this fic- John's devotion to his sons, Elkins misguided but well meaning warning, Castiel's obvious concern about Dean, and of course, the push/pull of the brothers' relationship. What was so wonderful to me is that both boys came across so in OC, changed from their experiences but still caring so much about the other.

Gosh, this is going to confuse canon in my brainpan... it's so believably doable, that I have this fear I'm going to think back to it as if it really happened, as if it was a part of the overall narrative. Crap!

But, I guess if you can superimpose your fic onto canon, that's a damn fine job. So, well done you! ^___^
