Turn Left Turn Right

Finally completed the whole cycle of my first MV by posting it on You Tube. The saga ends - well, the little glitches that annoyed me never really got resolved, but I quit bothering anymore. It went on for too long (I like completed the vid late last year o.O). There was anything more I could do to get the quality of the clip any better when uploaded to YT, so it just has be that ppl should squint and lean back to just blur their focus and watch it for the storyline. LOL!

Maybe it's intuition. Some things you just don't question
Like in your eyes, I see my future in an instant
And there it goes, I think I've found my best friend

I'm just happy about it. Doesn't matter if I don't make another one, I just had to make my take on the one. Because the song concept suited well, and I wanted to see it visually in that way. I was surprised how the movie bits came close to the story concept of what I had for the song itself. Two people who are destined to meet, finally meet, even though they usually are near each other. I originally thought two person living in the same apartment block, but one above and one below. Ah, the next door biz is so close that I had to make my MV. Had to...had to....keep dreaming until I found the resources to do so (few years later...). Phew.

I know that it might sound more than a little crazy but I believe
I knew I loved you before I met you. I think I dreamed you into life
I knew I loved you before I met you. I have been waiting all my life

Turn Left Turn Right. The movie was adapted from from Taiwanese author, Jimmy Liao's illustration book. It's titled 'A Chance Of Sunshine ' in english. I bought the illustration book around the time I heard there was going to be a movie about it.  I had always heard about Jimmy's works, but never got around to checking them. So, a chance/ a reason came about - since Takeshi will be in it - I want to see the book for myself

Ah....the book. It is one of the most beautiful and cutest thing ever. Very simple story. Very few words - but precise and eloquent. The pictures reflected all there is to know. And I felt it. The emotions, the sadness, and the joy. The end - it just needed to be a happy ending or it would be terrible (in the book - it took them one year to meet again).

There's just no rhyme or reason. Only this sense of completion
And in your eyes, I see the missing pieces
I'm searching for. I think I found my way home
I know that it might sound more than a little crazy but I believe

The movie re-created some very identical scenes from the book, which was lovely to have them come alive in front of your eyes. The initial trailers that came out were absolutely beautiful - pinpointing exactly the sentiments of the book. Parallel lines will one day meet. And the background music of Stefanie Sun's song, 'Encounter' added the perfect atmosphere.

Of course, the book was the book - and the movie had to be more - since the original had minimal text and the twenty or so pages would not transfer well into a full feature movie just like that. I understood the theory and so, (I think I still preferred the story in the book over the movie), I could watch through the additions of a back story and side stories (what an outrageous pair is Ruby and Dr Hu - sorta a loud disruptions to their peaceful lives..). But I mainly wanted to see how the two leads would meet, lose each other and meet again. The ending was different, but I think the idea may have still stemmed from the book, as there is a small picture of the knocked-down wall.

I just love how Takeshi wore his hair tied up in the movie. And the way he played the violin seemed really good. In the job application, how he did the little snippets of 'celebration tunes' was so cute!

A thousand angels dance around you. I am complete now that I found you ...
I knew I loved you before I met you. I think I dreamed you into life
I knew I loved you before I met you. I have been waiting all my life

And why stop at the book and the movie, when there are more cute stuff. I bought a TLTR picture frame while I was in Hong Kong. And my sister bought me a smaller clip photo figurine and a bag, cos she thought it will tickle my fancy. ^--^. There was a purse with Jimmy's work on it. But it looked a bit too fancy, and if I wasn't going to use it - it would be a shame to leave it around.
