totally confused as to how to 'pin' another layer onto a texture. kind of blew my mind, sweetie. LOL!

me too. I just selected them both and clicked on "link layers" instead, cuz even with Google I couldn't figure it out. :/

Omg I'm so sorry for the late reply!!
It's very simple, maybe 'pin' it's not the word, sorry!
You just need to press Alt on your keyboard and click the line between the layers.
I hope this helps! Anyway, here is the psd in case I'm not explaining properly ;)
