Title: Surrounded by Heartless Characters: Rinoa Heartilly (searchingwings, OPEN When: Right now Where: The City Warnings: A run-in with heartless Summary: Rinoa faces the darkness of the new world
Rikku was not one to leave a Rinoa alone to fight. Which was why there would be a "Hi-ya!" coming from behind Rinoa as a Heartless that tried for a sneaky back attack on the girl soon evaporated into nothing. Killing blow was delivered thanks to one of Rikku's newest dresspheres. Long baggy pants, an asymmetrical top, and a pair of skates with blades coming from the heels. Naturally, kicking and speed were the two main attributes of this form.
"Gotta watch your back, Rinoa," said Rikku with a grin. She knew it wasn't her ally - her Rinoa always had wings, after all, but she still considered any Rinoa a friend. She then moved her focus back on the Heartless, jumping in the air and delivering a fatal drop kick to one of them.
Rinoa turned her eyes on the girl for only a second before casting Tornado on the surrounding enemies, taken care of quite a good deal of them on her side of the battle. The moment she was given a short break from fighting, she spoke up.
"I don't know who you are, but thanks." She told the blond girl quickly before giving the shadows a little Quake to try and force them out of their hiding places. Even if the girl was a stranger to her, the blond was obviously not her enemy, and that was something she was glad to know.
"I'll explain later!" came the quick reply before Rikku unleashed a flurry of spin kicks against the small group of Heartless that had circled around her. Of course Rinoa could take care of herself; Rikku knew that much.
Soon, all the Heartless were eliminated. "Oh yeah," boasted Rikku with a grin, "That was awesome."
Rinoa laughed at the girl's energy. The blond reminded her so much of Selphie, and she had to admit, she really missed the energetic girl she had once known and called a friend.
"Thanks for the help, though I have a feeling that we'll run into a lot more heartless then just that."
Given the tendency of the house to develop new rooms when and as necessary (for which he tended to mostly blame Merlin) it took a brief moment before Leon realized that this was actually a brand-new world. In this case, it took exactly as long as it did for him to come across the first batch of Heartless. Whatever world this was it certainly wasn't safe, although the Heartless would explain the assorted empty buildings.
When he turned a corner only to find someone else fighting the Heartless there was really only one reaction. He threw himself headlong into the fray, without even stopping to look and see who the other person was. There would be time after the Heartless were gone.
The help was not unappreciated when Rinoa noticed the man coming to her aid. Of course, she didn't have the time to get a good look at him, but if he was fighting the heartless, then he must be an ally.
It took time and effort to defeat the swarms of heartless as she cast again and again, keeping her back to the man until her only a few heartless remained. One by one, and with the help of the man behind her, they extinguished what was left of the shadows that had surrounded them.
Skimming the now empty area, she turned to thank the man that had helped her, only to go still, her eyes widening as she stared at him in silence. It couldn't be...
Fighting with her was quite the same as fighting with Cloud, but he had to admit that she was a decent fighter. You didn't see a lot of mages in his neck of the woods, but hey, as long as she was willing to help kill the Heartless it was fine by him.
He didn't turn to look at his ally until the last Heartless was gone, but when he did anything he might have said died on his lips. He wasn't seeing things, right?
As her hand went to the ring that hung from her neck, her lips parted slightly. She couldn't believe it. He was older, his hair longer, and the clothes were different, but other then that, he was the same. Even the scar on his face hadn't changed in the years it had been since the heartless had destroyed their world.
"Squall...?" The name came from her lips as only a whisper, hopeful that it was really him.
