The pirates were all dead long before they hit the ground, though they did go flying quite a way, and from the origin of the explosion strode Exdeath.
He had cared little about where he was, or why. He simply knew his task was still unfinished, especially while Bartz and the other Crystal Bearers still lived.
It was odd though. He could sense the power of the crystals that were native to his world that Bartz carried, but also felt other crystals as well... as if there were more that were native to this land.
Regardless, his path was clear, and the bearer of the Wind Crystal's essence stood before him.

Was that...screaming?
Instantly, he went on high alert; shoving his shoes back on as he did so. The town from which he arrived was pretty far for from what he could remember. So what exactly was going on?
A crash! This time Bartz jumped, a little astonished from what his ears where taking in. Letting his eyes drift over the area, he could spy a small opening from where he had arrived at this paradise-- or almost was. There, coming in from the clearing was the only person he wished of all times not to see ( ... )

Smirking beneath the helm he wore, he tapped into the Void and drew on its power. He picked a spot rather close to the warrior, and opened a hole in space and time. The rift began to swallow the surrounding area, sucking the crystal blue water and ivory sands into the nothingness.
He couldn't help but chuckle as the seemingly perfect expanse became irreversibly marred, marked by the power of the Void.

He let his gaze drift to what lied a few feet in front of him as his eyes widened; an oh so familiar picture begin cast before his eyes. He knew what was to come as the small black hole started to form and Bartz took this moment to drive towards the nearest soil object; trying to get as far away from the suction cup as possible.
The process only took moments and once it was over, Bartz couldn't help but stare at what had remained. Everything, everything was gone! The lovely water, cool sand, as well as they only peaceful moment he was beginning to have with himself. He froze; limbs growing relaxed to his sides and an ( ... )

But the open air and the sound and smell of the ocean made their attempts to grab or mug her seem more like a nuisance than a threat, unlike Midgar. Krile's spear was getting quite a workout; the blunt end was quite handy for shoving into stomachs and walloping them over the head. But there was still a point when enough was enough, and she'd ventured out of town to see what else there was.
When she saw who was standing on the beach, a grin broke out on her face. "Hey, Bartz!" she said, running over. "What do you think of this place?"

"K-Krile? You're here too!?" The male's voice beamed, now quickly scrambling over to the younger female as he did so. He had come in contact with her once before in Midgar but later lost contact. But this, he thought, was a much better way to meet up than running from a herd of monsters!
Once she spoke up for her second comment, Bartz took a moment to think about it. There was too many words to describe how amazing this place was. "Its...perfect!" He finally choose to say out of his large- well, maybe not so large- list of words. With that he turned to face the beach that was in front of the two, ( ... )

"I think so too! Well... except the pirates, but they're really not that hard to deal with and I bet if Faris shows up she can whip them into shape." She hadn't seen the pirate since running into her at the inn in Zanarkand... Krile hoped that she was all right, but Faris was tough, and she was a Light Warrior. Just as long as she didn't--
"Hey, Bartz... did you see Exdeath at all, in the ruins? I know it sounds crazy," she said. "But... I did."

Still as a pirate, if there was one thing Faris had been missing more in that last setting than a good drink, it was a good look at the sea. The docks were alright for that sort of thing, but without ships it felt like a cheat. So she wandered around looking for an alternative. Eventually a beach presented itself to her and she grinned. It was a nice enough little spot and it seemed empty so she wouldn't have to put up with any nuisances.
Walking out onto the beach though she saw she'd made a mistake. "Still kickin' eh? Don't tell me yer leavin' just yet Bartz. Yer friend only just got here!"

That was though, until he heard a voice.
At first the male scowled without looking at first to see who it was; he was hoping of all things that it wasn't a pirate. Bartz had only begun to enjoy his moments and would be darned if someone would try to stop it. Bracing himself inwardly, he let his body move towards the position of the opening that was not far from his current standpoint ( ... )
