I picked up a lovely earthenware chalice (mine is darker blue than the one illustrated) from Keltrian Druid Susan Minyard at Starfest. Naturally, it has a serpent coiled around it, kissing the rim. What I am casting for now is ingredients for a suitable Gnostic potion for its first use in ritual, and for certain occasions thereafter. It should be ( Read more... )

That amounts to a tease because we don't have a reliable source of mead. The guy we used to get mead from at gatherings was at Starfest, giving discounted massages and selling beadwork.

The closest well-known drink to what I am looking for would be absinthe, but that isn't quite it, either.

Various people have told me that Chaucer's is pretty cruddy mead, so I haven't tried it. I wouldn't mind trying to make some, except I hardly have time to drink any, let alone make it ;-)

Ha! A blend of Chaucer's mead, XXX habañero sauce, and lemon juice worked really well. The working was for a lot more than just dedicating a chalice, and that kicked too.

So don't be surprised if some serpent or dragon entity drops off a random blessing of some sort soon.

The Chaucer's is not that bad. We have had some homebrew that was better, and some that wasn't.
