Note to Windoze EXPEE

There are no gods-damned unused icons on my desktop. If I put an icon on my desktop, I did so for a good reason, and I know how to use the delete key if I don't need it any more. And FFS, if you bug me about unused icons once, and I dismiss the popup, don't turn right around and bug me againF-- you, Bill. If I ever meet you in person, I am going to ( Read more... )

I feel obligated to chime in with a chorused, "Me too!" I have a couple dozen icons on my desktop and I LIKE them there. Also, notice how there's no "uncheck all" so you could hit a single button to designate the ones you don't want to delete (that would be all of them)? Oh, no. You have to go through the list and uncheck them all manually before it lets you proceed.

You know what's even worse?! Sometimes I work over on my mom's computer - hers has a talking PAPERCLIP that pops up in the middle of everything, wanting to know what I'm doing and if it can help me! No, you cannot help me! If I wanted a paperclip, I would get one out of my top drawer! And it would hold papers together, it would not talk to me!

I really have no idea who thinks these are good ideas. No clue.

All well and good, but there are an endless supply of misfeatures and general ugliness in Windoze, very little of which can be turned off. Not to mention the fact that I shouldn't have to waste my time finding out how to turn their crap off. Being Windoze, it will probably just lose that setting at some point and start doing it again, anyway.
