Dear Mother,

I hope you are well. I imagine that you are still the same restless and conniving creature as you were when I left; however, one does like to be sure. I am pleased to say that I have arrived safely in Amber, and have begun to settle in.

I think general distaste for family is not uncommon among those of us who hang around in Amber. I mean, there's usually a reason we're not back home in the loving embrace of our own families or what not.
