Despite the continuing freezing weather, the frogs just laid clump number 5 in the pond. I think they feel safe (and a couple of degrees warmer!) under the plastic sheeting. Unfortunately I forgot to re-cover it one night after some daylight to keep the aerating weed happy. So the surface froze for a while and may have damaged clumps 3 and 4 (after I'd already given some parts of them away). Meanwhile, I've now put the successful hatchlings from batch 2 in with the tadpoles of batch 1 - freeing up the small bucket for spawn batch 5 to come indoors. If the spring ever turns up, I'll be able to put them all outdoors again.
I hope scream gets there soon. If I could pipe heat to people through the internet, I'd pass enough of Vietnamese Summer to take the edge off the heat here and defrost things where you are.
