Maou, Misfits, and Jmovies, oh my.

I guess it's easier to divide things up...

1. Maou
I watched the first episode of Maou last night, and while I did enjoy it, I also found is ridiculously hilarious in quite a few spots. The biggest thing? It's way over-dramatic. Especially Toma's character. Everything he does is SO dramatic, SO passionate. I mean, he runs everywhere. As sn0tcat said, he ( Read more... )

I love your synopsis of Maou ep 1 because it's dead on. For some reason I though Ohno was less scary and more pretty but it could be because he's non oompa-loompa-y. I really don't think Toma is suited to serious roles.

Oh! My dad reads tarot as well, I've always grown up around it - when I was little he caught me reading my friend's cards with the battle cards from Risk. I just thought that was interesting since tarot seems to be something women do more often than men...

Heh, thanks!
Oh man, evil!Ohno is NOT scary to me. He's too tiny for me to take him as a threat. Like, what's he going to do, bite my ankle?
You know, I've seen Toma in at least one more serious role (there was a comedic element, but it wasn't full on Hana Kimi-esque crack), and it was the best thing I've ever seen him in. I think he needs something like that - a balance of comedy and drama.

Hehehe, aw, that's cute! My dad took a lot of strange classes when he was younger - ghost hunting, occult studies, tarot, etc. He has this little stash of stuff he got from them, like all the tarot cards, snake bones (... I don't know), cedar powder, etc. Thus I always knew I had the most awesome dad ever ;P
I think, in general, women are more interested in that side of the occult. The intuition side.

MTE on all your points regarding Maou. Especially this: Sorry show, you can put a shirtless Ohno in the shower in front of me all you want, I'm still not going to want to bang him. . Yup. LMAO!

Serious Toma and creepy Ohno didn't seem to fit during the first few eps, so I did LOL a lot at them both. Especially Toma who was clearly over-acting his character. He'll get more convincing as the series progresses.

HAH! While I do think Ohno is attractive (he has a great face), he's just WAAAAY too tiny for me to ever think about. Even if he is as tall as reported (166cm.... that seems too tall to me, but who knows), I'm still 6cm taller.

It's pretty damn funny so far, so yeah, hopefully it'll get better. Oh, Toma... he's such a good actor when he gets it right. I hope it'll turn around.

I am really not sure about the Koukou Debut casting, but... I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. I actually enjoyed the Love Com film, but I watched it before I saw the anime/read the manga, so I didn't have anything to compare it to. He wouldn't be my first choice for Yoh either, but that pic isn't too bad...
