I was all like "hmm... I wonder if I should watch 'The Tudors'?", so I went to wiki, and checked out the cast list. Hans Matheson is in it - done deal for me. I LOOOOOVE Hans Matheson. He always plays evil, but I love him so much I always want him to prevail ( Read more... )

Maybe the ghosts possessed me? Speaking of possession, I find it beyond hilarious that after I saw the Taiwan ghosts, I gave you instructions on what to do with me in case of possession.

I THINK the Sisi thing came from her strange relationship with crazy Ludwig. Than and her dress here. I love that dress...

I LOVE THE TUDORS! But I'm a history buff. I've only finished the first season and watched part of the second but it's still pretty amazing.

I'm also fanatical about late 18th Ce France (Art History nerd) - I'm pretty sure I could live and Petit Trianon forever. Rococo is my favorite style and takes place during era of all time.

Good to know, thanks! I DL'ed the first episode, so I'll soon find out!

For some reason, when I went to France, I didn't go to Versailles. This is clearly a HUGE mistake on my part. Nearly as horrible as me missing the Sistine Chapel when I was in the Vatican.
Rococo is gorgeous, but personally my favorite is Edwardian followed very closely by Victorian. My design sense is a strange mix of Edwardian, Victorian, Rococo, Gothic, and super modern.

I tend to like Victorian patterns and Rococo furniture in modern colors. (not a fan of deep red with gold haha). I'm a huge fan of Vigee-LeBrun (cried when I saw her painting Maternal Tenderness) so I couldn't not go to Versailles. Of course when I went it was frigid cold, there were no pretty trees and got so lost on the metro that I missed out on seeing Grand Trianon.

There's just too much to see so it's easy to miss out on things, you must prioritize. I didn't see (up close) the Arc de Triomphe and almost didn't see the Eiffel Tower but since it was next to a museum I wanted to go to I went to see it. I also missed out on Monet's waterlilies which were apparently an 8-10 minute walk from my hotel, but I convinced myself that it wouldn't be any fun seeing everything the first time. I am convinced I've seen most of the Louvre but that was from sheer determination and strategy, lol. Most of my affection for time periods center around the art that was created during them.

umm, you missed out on the most important part because hello, Jonathan Rhys Meyers. (though he's not nearly as hot in this as say, August Rush. Mmm, angsty brooding Irish singer. but I digress).

The Tudors is entertaining enough -LOTS of sex/implied sex etc. and royal soap opera-ness. Excellent acting all around and high budget. It's basically an upscale, historical version of Gossip Girl. I never got past the 1st season but I suspect you'll like it.

Yes, I quite like Jonathan Rhys Meyers, have since Titus. Though in recent years his belligerent drunkenness has turned me a bit off towards him. Regardless, I do have a very large bias towards Irish people...

I'm on the first episode, and I do like it so far! I'll see how it goes :D
